Anchor bay woods preserve benefit adventure paddle
Wednesday, August 7, 2019

The Race Is On! Six Rivers has been awarded a $450,000 matching grant by the Carls Foundation to fund expansion of the Anchor Bay Woods Preserve.  The grant requires a 1:1 match in order to release the funds, so Six Rivers must raise an additional $450,000 to get the money.  The combined total of $900,000 of new funds will help protect several more parcels at Anchor Bay Woods Preserve, but we need help to get there!  Funding already received from Carls Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and Axalta helped Six Rivers to buy and protect the first 50 acres of the preserve, now we need your help to protect the rest!

Join us for a kick off paddling adventure on Anchor Bay to celebrate the grant on August 7th at 6 pm at the Walter and Mary Burke Park in New Baltimore.  All proceeds will benefit expansion of the Anchor Bay Woods Preserve.  We will explore the mouths of Marsac and Crapaud Creeks, which flow through the preserve before emptying into Anchor Bay.  There will be hotdogs and refreshments.  Kayaks and SUP’s available to rent from Simple Adventures or bring your own.  Simple Adventures will provide an SUP lesson for interested beginners.  Suggested contribution--$25/person, kids under 12 free but must be accompanied by parent.  Kayak rental is separate through Simple Adventures.
